🏨✨Art Itinerary | A Real Experience Report of Le Méridien Alcoobar Hotel🎨📸
📍Location and Design
The hotel is located at the intersection of Alcoobar's old town and art district, a 5-minute walk from the cathedral and subway station. Formerly a 19th-century post office building, it has been renovated to retain its retro arches and mosaic floor tiles. A woven chandelier by a local artist hangs in the atrium. The hand-brewed coffee beans given at check-in are from the northern mountains of Portugal, and the coasters are made of recycled old stamps - detail control is ecstatic!
🛏️ Room Experience
▪️ Basic room types start at 35m², with gray-blue walls and brass lamps, and the bedding is made of skin-friendly linen. The bedside sockets have USB API (a rare benefit in European hotels!)
▪️ The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, and the toiletries are from Malin+Goetz's mint series. The shower water pressure is so strong that it can wash away jet lag.
▪️ Small surprise: The turndown service includes a handwritten weather forecast + Portuguese egg tarts, and the cherry cola in the mini bar is free to refill.
🍴 Gourmet Delights
▪️ "Postmark Restaurant" breakfast: Be sure to try the freshly made croissants with Iberian ham, fresh orange juice mixed with Brazilian acai berry bowl, and coffee lovers can challenge the Portuguese espresso with cinnamon powder.
▪️ Rooftop terrace bar: In the evening, order a glass of Porto Tónico (port wine + tonic water), and watch the trams clanging through the old town with a platter of olives.
▪️ Hidden service: Book 24 hours in advance to experience the "Fish Market Table" - the chef will take you to the early market to purchase and cook the sardines caught that day.
🎨 Art Easter Eggs Made Easy
✔️ Free art tours are available daily at 10:00/15:00 to decipher the hotel's collection of 20th-century postal-themed paintings.
✔️ Watercolor painting tools are available in the corner of the lobby café, and a free espresso can be exchanged for graffiti on the arched windows.
✔️ Every Friday night, the atrium transforms into a jazz music scene, and guests can get an exclusive Portuguese cherry wine with their room card.
🚶♀️ Nearby Activities
▪️ An 8-minute walk to the Alcoobar Handmade Market, where we recommend buying cork products and blue and white porcelain jewelry.
▪️ A 10-minute taxi ride to the Museum of Modern Art, which is free on Thursday evenings and open until 22:00.
▪️ The hotel offers free bicycle rentals, and a 20-minute ride along the river will take you to a flock of wild flamingos.
💡 Useful Tips
☞ Connecting rooms are available for families, and children receive a painting kit (which they can take with them!)
☞ The SPA recommends a 30-minute midday express massage using hot stones containing local minerals.
☞ Taking a Bolt taxi is 30% cheaper than a regular taxi, and the front desk staff will help you enter the Portuguese address.
Remember to take the postcards from the lobby when you check out! Drop them in the hotel's antique mailbox and they will be mailed worldwide for free (the process of putting on the stamps is super healing, we recommend taking a vlog) 📮💌
