The "Hokujin Memorial Hall," located within the Asahikawa Garrison, is a unique place where you can delve into Hokkaido's defense and development history. With its mission to "protect the North," the museum displays important materials inseparable from Asahikawa's history, including the footprints of the garrison soldiers and precious historical materials from the former 7th Army Division. These materials allow one to experience the spirit and historical weight forged in the harsh environment of the time.
Entering the red-brick building, you'll not only see the actual exhibits, but also learn more about the activities of the 2nd Division of the Ground Self-Defense Force, which carried on the "Hokujin" spirit, through guided tours and audio apps. More than just a military museum, this is an educational center that conveys the spirit of "protection and development."
