Bangkok Art Biennale 2024

Bangkok Art Biennale 2024 - Bangkok Art Biennale or BAB is an international contemporary art festival that is held every two years. This year, it returns with the theme of "Nurture Gaia", conveying different meanings of nature, nurture, femininity, and contemplating ecology, politics, or supernatural powers to reflect on the current situation, stimulate thought, and find new ways to deal with future issues in terms of society and the environment.

#Insomnia invites everyone to see the works in the exhibition section at the Museum of Siam from artists from Thailand and abroad. There are works that Insomnia likes and wants to tell others, such as:

▪️ Bruce Asbestos (Bruce Asbestos) - The work Eye of Newt is a large eye installation inspired by frog eggs and the concept of natural change. This work invites viewers to physically participate and reflect on the abnormal conditions of the industry. Asbestos uses pop culture and digital technology to create playful, interactive pieces.

▪️ David Shongo and Filip Van Dingenen - Suskewiet Visions is inspired by the folk traditions of southwest Flanders, exploring the practice of counting the calls of finches in competition through reinterpretation with sound technology. The work questions the relationship between humans and nature.

▪️ Jasmine Togo-Brisby - Bones and Bellies tells the story of her South Sea Island ancestors who were forced into labour in Australia, reflecting on the identity, migration and resilience of the community, revealing the history honestly through photographs of her, her mother and her daughter.

▪️ Jessada Tangtrakulwong - The Rhythm of Notes Counting from Bottom to Top repurposes the structure of a pavilion in Saranrom Garden into the materials of a Karen house. Reflecting the fusion of culture, music and community in a new perspective
