Bangkokian Museum — A Hidden Gem for History Lovers 🏠🌿

#summervacay
This house, built in 1929, originally belonged to a Chinese-Thai merchant couple. Their daughter later had five daughters here. The last owner generously donated the property to the government, turning it into today’s Bangkokian Museum. 🙏✨

The museum reflects the lifestyle of Bangkok’s middle-class families between 1937 and 1957. 🕰️👨👩👧👧

The site consists of three wooden houses, surrounded by lush trees and flowers, illustrating Bangkok’s history in the 1950s and 60s: 🌳🌸

First House (built 1937): A Western-style two-story red-tile roof house, formerly home to the Surawadi family. It mainly displays furniture, household utensils, stationery, machinery, and traditional craft tools. 🛋️📚🖋️
Second House (built 1929): Originally located in the Mohammek area, it was relocated and reconstructed here. This building mainly exhibits medical equipment. ⚕️🩺
Third House: A two-story eight-room building formerly used as rental units. It will be renovated into a community library in the future. 📖🏡
This museum offers a unique glimpse into the everyday life of Bangkok’s past middle-class, perfect for visitors interested in culture and history! 🎨🏛️
