When traveling to Thailand, how can you miss the world-famous Jim Thompson Thai silk? Although you can find it in various malls across Bangkok, the stores are generally small. We recommend two well-stocked and less crowded places, perfect for both personal use and picking out souvenirs!
First, the flagship store in the Sathorn area, Surawong, is a two-story shop filled with all kinds of Thai silk products, from cute elephant ornaments, exquisite handbags, playful hair ties, to comfortable and breathable pants—everything you could want. Men's ties and Thai silk shirts are especially high-quality, making them great for gifts or personal use. It's worth mentioning that there is another building behind the store showcasing Thai silk furniture, with unique designs and a distinctive style, definitely worth spending time exploring. The store is open from 09:00 to 20:00, giving you plenty of time to browse at your leisure.
Another must-visit spot is the Jim Thompson Museum, which is connected to the adjacent specialty store. Here, you can not only shop for Thai silk products but also tour the teakwood building full of historical charm. Surrounded by lush greenery, every snapshot looks like a masterpiece, and even the "Fairy Sister" has checked in here. The parking garage often hosts special exhibitions, adding to the fun of shopping. However, please note that the museum is open from 10:00 to 17:00, so it’s recommended to plan your visit in advance.
