Jao An, a secret cafe in an alley in the Yaowarat area

Jao An is a cafe located in an alley behind the Wat Mangkon MRT station. It’s a hidden spot but very popular online. The must-try menu here is Thai tea. The tea leaves are blended to be fragrant, not as strong as southern Thai tea, with a mild sweetness that’s very smooth. The cafe is also famous for its fruit teas, which come loaded with lots of fruit. Before leaving, I bought some preserved lemon syrup to take home. It’s great for making preserved lemon soda, which is delicious with just the right balance of sweet and sour. If you’re around Yaowarat, be sure to stop by. At the entrance, there’s also a famous Jab Kang noodle shop selling noodles.
