🍽 Must-try dishes (foodies must know)
If you come here, you must try these dishes:
• Hainanese Chicken Rice — Hainanese-style boiled chicken with yellow skin and juicy, chewy meat. Hainanese dipping sauce/fermented soybean paste, and fragrant, creamy rice cooked in chicken soup. On days when it's cooked well, the rice grains are separated and beautifully fragrant with the rich aroma of the chicken soup.
• Boiled Chicken (Regular/Half/Breast/Thigh/Thigh) — If you're looking for a chicken to share with a large group, ordering a half is a great option. The skin is lightly crispy, the meat is moist, and not dry.
• Hainanese Roast Beef — Tender meat, with a fragrant and rich Hainanese sauce, a bit like traditional Chinese flavors, but not too rich.
• Braised Duck with Winter Melon and Pickled Lemon — A dish of Chinese herbs, winter melon, and pickled lemon that provides a nice tangy balance.
• Braised Goat with Chinese Herbs — For those who like tender meat / a light aroma of Chinese herbs, stewed for a long time.
• Hainanese Stir-fried Mixed Vegetables — A vegetable dish that many say is "crunchy / medium flavor / helps cut through the richness."
• Braised Bamboo Pith and Mushroom Soup / Other Soups — A hot soup dish that's perfect for cutting through the richness or starting a light meal.

😋 A gossip-like atmosphere like friends.
Oh, sis… imagine it. On a free day, when you're craving something "traditional + big portions + old-fashioned restaurant atmosphere," you'll invite a friend and drive into Bangkok on the Rama IV side around 1:00 PM. As you approach Khlong Toei, pass under the expressway, the sun's rays are starting to shine a little brightly. But Sirin Restaurant stands out on the corner of Rama IV Road. It's an old building with a signboard for "Sirin Restaurant," green and white in an old-fashioned Chinese style. There are wooden tables and chairs, and both an open-air ground floor and an air-conditioned upper floor (a short flight of stairs).
We chose to sit upstairs, with the air conditioning on to cool off a bit. We started with a light dish: "Braised Bamboo Shoot and Mushroom Soup." It was a piping hot and easy to swallow. Next, we ordered "Hainanese Chicken Rice." The chicken thigh and drumstick had thin, golden-brown skin, tender meat, and crispy, not tough skin. The rice grains were evenly distributed and cooked perfectly, not too mushy. The soybean paste and Hainanese sauce were served. I accidentally poured the sauce over the chicken, and the first bite of rice... oh my, I finished the whole plate without adding any seasoning.
We also ordered "Stewed Duck with Pickled Lemon and Winter Melon." The duck meat was perfectly tender, with thin skin and a well-balanced sour and salty flavor. The chicken and fried ingredients were then served with "Stir-fried Hainanese Mixed Vegetables," a well-rounded, delicate dish that wasn't too bitter.
The atmosphere is retro, with bright lighting and tables by the windows overlooking Rama IV Road. The sound of plates and spoons gently tapping against the sunlight filtering through the lower level invites you to slow down a bit. Enjoy a delicious meal, chat about life, and quickly brush off work for a bit.

⚠️ Pros + Things to Know
Pros:
• Authentic flavors, prepared using traditional Hainanese and Chinese recipes passed down from an ancient chef. It's not a fancy chicken rice restaurant — the aroma, texture, and dipping sauce are unique.
• A diverse menu, including chicken rice, Chinese-Thai dishes, stews, soups, roast beef, braised duck, and more.
• The retro, time-honored atmosphere is so rich that it takes you back in time.
• There's an air-conditioned room upstairs if the weather is hot and you want to sit comfortably.
Caution:
• Closed on Mondays — if you're going, check the hours beforehand to avoid disappointment.
• Not the cheapest restaurant, but if you order multiple dishes, the price can go up. Beef, stew, goat, etc. If you're dining with a large group of friends, parking can be sparse or difficult to find at certain times — the restaurant's front can be full, so you'll have to find street parking or a nearby parking spot and walk to the restaurant.
If you're going for dinner or on the weekends, it can be crowded, or some items on the menu may sell out before you arrive.
⸻
✅ Conclusion: Is this restaurant worth it? Should you go?
Yes, it is! If you're craving something out of the ordinary, like a Chinese-Hainanese dessert/savory dish/traditional Hainanese chicken rice with a classic restaurant atmosphere, Sirin is a must-have for lunch with friends or family or a relaxing dinner. This restaurant offers a homey feel, memories, and quality that's worth it and won't disappoint.
