Located in the northeastern part of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, Boudhanath is one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist stupas in the world and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Standing at approximately 36 meters tall, the pristine white stupa is adorned with the "Eyes of Wisdom," a symbol of Tibetan Buddhism. These eyes, painted on all sides, create a sacred atmosphere as if they are watching over us from every direction.
Around the stupa, you can observe locals and pilgrims walking clockwise while spinning prayer wheels (Mani wheels). Each rotation of the wheel is said to hold the same significance as reciting a prayer, believed to carry their wishes to the heavens. Simply watching this tranquil scene can bring a sense of inner peace. 🕊️
Tourists are welcome to join in the ritual, so don't miss the chance to experience this local tradition!
The surrounding area is also home to shops selling Tibetan Buddhist souvenirs, craft stores, and cozy cafes, making it an ideal spot for souvenir shopping or taking a relaxing break during your Kathmandu tour. 🛍️☕️🏺
