The sunset in Beijing is absolutely stunning

Beijing 4-Day Walking Tour🔥The old soul and new pulse beneath the Imperial City Wall are all here

How can you come to Beijing without walking the Central Axis? This route not only hits classic landmarks but also hides the authentic life of old Beijing. Here’s a tested 20,000-step daily itinerary that won’t let you down👇

🚩Day 1: In-depth tour of the Forbidden City
📍8:30 Start from Donghuamen and circle to Wumen to avoid the long security line at Tiananmen
📍The Treasure Gallery is a must-see! Those exquisite kingfisher feather jewelry pieces sparkle even through the glass
📍Don’t forget to look up at the painted beams when resting at the Corner Tower Café
⚠️Closed on Mondays! The secret to grabbing tickets 7 days in advance is to be ready at 8 PM sharp when tickets are released

🚩Day 2: Stroll around Shichahai
📍Early morning, check in at the Drum Tower’s Bus Stop 107
📍At the third floor of the trendy Tangfang Café on Yandai Xiejie Street, you can capture both the Bell and Drum Towers in one frame
📍Haggle when taking a rickshaw tour through the hutongs (don’t ask me how I know)
🌇The Houhai Bar Street is most beautiful when the lights come on at dusk, but don’t just enter any place with a minimum spend

🚩Day 3: Great Wall + Summer Palace walk
📍Mutianyu Great Wall is less crowded and scenic; the cable car up and slide down is super fun
📍Enter the Summer Palace through the newly built palace gate and head straight to the Seventeen-Arch Bridge to see the golden light shining through the arches
🍜For dinner, highly recommend “Manhengji” in Mudanyuan for their explosive tripe and sesame sugar pancakes

🚩Day 4: Artistic Beijing tour
📍The 60th Anniversary Exhibition at the National Art Museum of China is worth getting up early and queuing for
📍Many galleries in the 798 Art District are closed on Mondays, so don’t go empty-handed
📸The popular photo spot of Miaoying Temple White Pagoda is at the top floor of the café in the alley next door

🍜Must-eat list:
• Ridge Beast ice cream at the Ice Cellar Restaurant in the Forbidden City
• Century-old Lu Zhu (stewed pork offal) at Menkuang Hutong (Xinjiekou branch)
• Siji Minfu Roast Duck (don’t insist on the Forbidden City branch)

💡Practical Tips:
1. Book all attractions in advance! The Forbidden City and National Museum are especially hard to get tickets for
2. Use the Yitongxing app for buses and subways; taxis can get stuck in traffic jams during peak hours that make you question life
3. Wear comfortable shoes for hutong tours; many places have uneven stone slab roads
4. For Daoxiangcun snacks, look for the Sanhe logo; loose packaging is half the price of gift boxes

Unexpectedly, you can find so many surprises during a Beijing Citywalk. The pomegranate tree shadows leaking through the door cracks of the siheyuan marked "Protected Courtyard" are even more moving than the popular photo spots~
