Japan's TOP hot spring town, traditional Japanese accommodation experience!

Oita Prefecture's Beppu was the last stop on our Kyushu trip. Despite the rain, we enjoyed a rare immersive traditional hot spring journey during our brief overnight stay at this hotel.

👉🏻Hoshino Resorts KAI Beppu

⭕Oita Prefecture is truly Japan's number one hot spring prefecture, leading by a large margin in the number of hot springs. Beppu is a representative of this, where the entire city is shrouded in the magical sight of steaming hot spring mists, and it's said that you haven't really been to Beppu if you haven't experienced the hot springs.

⭕The hotel is designed in a traditional Japanese style, extensively using wood and bamboo decorations, full of traditional feel. The public area is restored to the appearance of past hot spring streets. At night, when the lights are on, playing traditional games, if you get hungry, you can cook a bowl of hellishly spicy ramen, taste hot spring eggs, Usuki pancakes, giving a sense of time travel back to the past.

⭕What is astonishing is that each of the 70 rooms in the hotel is a sea-view room! The magnificent view of Beppu Bay is unobstructed. The rooms are decorated in a 'persimmon color', which is calm and classic, inspired by the color of the Blood Pond Hell hot spring, one of Beppu's eight major hells.

⭕It's not just the hot springs, the hotel's meals are also a supreme enjoyment. The kaiseki cuisine is full of ceremonial sense, Ise lobster sashimi, Wagyu shabu-shabu, Oita Prefecture's special citrus... It's just too delicious!

⭕Each KAI has 'local pleasure' activities, and in KAI Beppu, there is a special performance. The 'Yutogi Pot Band' plays cheerful rhythms with various hot spring pots and hot spring water, quite lively.

⭕As a Japanese hot spring ryokan brand under the Hoshino Resorts group, 'KAI' is located in various hot spring resorts throughout Japan, each with its own characteristics, and is very worth experiencing!
