At the break of dawn, we set out to visit Nyoirin-ji Temple in the outskirts of Fukuoka. The ancient temple is serene, with the sound of wooden fish and the faint scent of incense filling the air. The golden Buddha statue reveals its compassion in the morning light, and our hearts gradually enter a state of tranquility with the Buddhist chants. In the afternoon, we head to Beppu, a hot spring town shrouded in white steam, resembling a fairyland. The hot spring pools are hidden among the greenery, and the sound of flowing water soothes our travel fatigue. As dusk approaches, we seek out the mysterious Hell Springs, where the iron-blue hot springs bubble like dragon's breath, the strong smell of sulfur fills the air, and the mottled rock walls resemble a devil's painting. The natural wonders leave us breathless. After a night at a hot spring inn, the morning bell rings again, and the three scenes vividly remain in our minds, as if we have traveled through a fantastical journey between the human world and the underworld.
