In Dali|Hurry to Windmill Hill to embrace the summer of Studio Ghibli!

Bring your kids to Dali for a few days to escape the summer heat, planning to challenge yourself to explore a new activity or place every day, focusing on avoiding tourists and getting close to nature!

I’ll try to update daily, sharing experiences with fewer people and great activities, so you all can copy my homework!

【Day 2】Go to Windmill Hill and embrace the summer scenes from Studio Ghibli animations!

As far as I know, there are two places in Dali where you can see windmills up close: Wulongba Meadow and Zhemo Mountain. I went to the former. There are very few tourists here, but the scenery is unbeatable. If you go on a sunny day, the blue sky, white clouds, meadows, and sheep look just like scenes from a Studio Ghibli animation!

Be sure to navigate to “Shangyangliu Village,” and absolutely do not navigate to “Wulongba Meadow”! When you start winding up the mountain, you will pass the Dali Sanfeng Renewable Energy/Waste Treatment Plant, where you will see windmills. After passing it, there is a fork in the road with a sign pointing to Wulongba Meadow (road on the upper right).

💰There is an 8 yuan grassland management fee per person to enter the mountain. Taking photos with the sheep or holding a lamb costs 50 yuan. Note that there are several shepherds on site, so you need to choose one group of sheep; paying once does not allow you to freely approach all the sheep for photos!

‼️It’s windy on the mountain, so bring a jacket and be sure to protect yourself from the sun.

When you reach a forestry management station or similar place, take the left fork up the small path to the mountain top, where you can get close to a big windmill. In the nearby pine forest, I unexpectedly found lots and lots of little mushrooms!
