Sayram Lake, Xinjiang’s “Blue Eye” awaits! 💧😍 Located on the edge of Bole, this heavenly alpine lake boasts crystal-clear waters, mountain-ringed horizons and a legendary sense of tranquility. It’s perfect for nature lovers, photographers and those seeking a deep dose of adventure.
For the ultimate day: Start with a lakeside walk or cycle ride – the air is super crisp, and mornings give magical misty photo ops with the sun rising over the Tianshan mountains. Head to the wooden boardwalks for classic wide-angle shots; the color gradients of water here are absolute “insta-worthy” gold! If you’re into local vibes, check out the Kazakh yurts dotting the landscape; ideal for portrait shots big on culture.
Don’t miss: boat cruises (weather permitting), wandering the meadows filled with wildflowers (in warmer months), and grabbing a fresh yogurt snack from roadside stalls. Try to circle the lake clockwise—traffic is lighter, and views are uninterrupted.
Practical tips: Sayram Lake is open all day from Oct 16–Dec 31. Entry is 110 yuan. Layer up! It’s windy and chilly most of the year (I packed a windbreaker, totally worth it). Sunblock and sunglasses are a must—the water acts like a mirror. Be aware: public transport is rare, so arrange a car or join a local tour.
Precaution: Altitude is 2,073 meters—drink water and take it slow if you’re not used to thinner air. There are limited facilities, so bring snacks and power banks.
