The Jingge White Pagoda is located in Jingge Park in Gengma Dai and Wa Autonomous County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province. Construction began in 1778. The 14th Gengma Tusi, Han Chaoyuan, built the pagoda to commemorate the friendly neighborliness between China and Myanmar. He designated the day following the Water Splashing Festival, falling on the Ding or Ren year, as the "White Pagoda" ceremony. The main pagoda stands 30 meters tall, symbolizing the Buddha's celestial body.
There are 13 Jingge Pagodas, large and small. The 12 surrounding towers symbolize the 12 great disciples. Both the main and secondary towers are constructed of brick and stone, while the pinnacles are crafted from a refined alloy and coated in gold foil, shimmering brilliantly in the sun like a radiant Buddha's light.
The subtropical low-latitude mountain monsoon climate has a small temperature difference between the four seasons, distinct dry and wet seasons, and significant vertical changes. There is no severe cold in winter and no scorching heat in summer. It is suitable for travel in all seasons.
The main and secondary towers of the Jingge White Pagoda are both constructed of brick and stone. The peaked caps are crafted from a refined alloy and coated in gold foil, shimmering brilliantly in the sunlight, radiating a Buddha's aura. Two roaring unicorns stand to the south of the pagoda, acting as guardians and mounts for the Buddha. Twelve Buddha statues sit in a circle around the main pagoda, including Tathagata, Guanyin, Maitreya, and nine Vajra Arhats. Some have kind, compassionate faces, some are as bright as the full moon, some are overjoyed, some are smirking, and some are deep in thought.
