"The pinnacle of Buddhist architecture. A 'temple of silence' surrounded by mountains and sky"]

— Borobudur, a World Heritage Site on the outskirts of Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Built in the 8th to 9th century, it is the world's largest Buddhist ruins,
with a total of 504 Buddha statues and over 2,600 reliefs lined up, making it a 'universe made of stone'.
In particular, the stupas lined up at the top and the Buddha statues within them combine tranquility and solemnity, creating a 'scenery that seems to stop time'.

🛕Recommended points

• The panorama from the top is divine

→ The morning scenery of the misty Javanese mountain ranges and the silhouette of the stupa overlapping is one of the most spectacular views in your life

• The arrangement of the stupas and Buddha statues is just too perfect

→ The whole thing represents the "enlightenment process", and the higher you go, the quieter and simpler it gets

• The reliefs are so detailed that you can't see it all in a day

→ Buddhist tales, life at the time, even flora and fauna are carved, so it's well worth seeing

• Even though it's a tourist spot, it has the "tranquility of a sacred place"

→ Even though there are tourists, it's not noisy for some reason, and it has a mysterious atmosphere

📸 Tips
・Sunrise is definitely recommended. However, it's popular and you must get up early (depart at 4am)
・It is said that touching the stupa will bring you good luck (but there are currently restrictions on access)
・Hats, water, and sunglasses are essential (direct sunlight on the stone is intense)
・Sneakers are recommended, as they are easier to walk in than sandals
・There are a lot of strong touts at the souvenir shops on the way back. You need to be able to ignore them
