The market is a paradise for seafood lovers, with endless stalls offering everything from raw octopus (sannakji) and live abalone to an array of shellfish, including scallops, mussels, and sea urchins. The raw octopus, still wriggling on the plate, is an adventurous delicacy best eaten with a dipping sauce of sesame oil and salt, providing a burst of flavor and texture. The abalone, tender and briny, is often served raw or lightly grilled, highlighting its natural sweetness.
Vendors skillfully prepare the seafood on the spot, and many restaurants within the market will cook your purchases to order, whether grilled, steamed, or served raw in the traditional Korean way.
