This temple, along with other temples named Longshan Temple in Taiwan—such as Tamsui Longshan Temple, Mengjia Longshan Temple, Tainan Longshan Temple, and Fengshan Longshan Temple—originates from the Quanan Longshan Temple in Jinjiang County, Quanzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province. Among all Longshan Temples in Taiwan, Lukang Longshan Temple is the largest and most well-preserved, and it is designated as a national historic site.
