The Hidden Secret of Longnan

Xixia Song Scenic Area is located 13 kilometers west of Cheng County, Longnan City, Gansu Province, at the foot of Tianjing Mountain and within the Yuqiao Gorge. It is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a mountain-water secret realm. Known for its serene and extraordinary natural scenery, the green mountains stand opposite each other, the streams are clear, pools of emerald water are strung like pearls, and a series of short waterfalls cascade in layers, forming a harmonious and dynamic landscape painting.

The wonder of Xixia lies in its steep mountains and rugged rock formations; its beauty is found in the winding water flow and lush forests. Looking around, one side features towering majestic peaks, while the other side has staggered sheer cliffs. Between the cliffs, layers of greenery overlap, ancient trees stand tall, vines entwine and hang down, exuding a primitive and tranquil atmosphere everywhere. Between the two mountains, the Xiangshui River meanders, sometimes murmuring gently as it flows around rocks; sometimes rushing fiercely, crashing against boulders and creating white splashes. The sound of the water is clear and melodious, and even from afar, one can still hear nature’s echo.

Even more breathtaking are the various water forms atop the cliffs. Some fall like white silk ribbons, streaming straight down from great heights; others weave crystal-clear bead curtains above the plank road, with water droplets splashing like mist and rain, refreshing the soul. Mountains, water, rocks, and trees all become uniquely crafted scenes; pavilions, bridges, corridors, and gazebos dot the area, complementing nature and adding cultural elegance without overshadowing the natural wonder.

Being in Xixia Song feels like stepping into a three-dimensional landscape poem, with every corner full of artistic charm and every breeze carrying ancient melodies. This place is not only a visual feast but also a sanctuary for the soul—amid the sound of waterfalls and birdsong, one can momentarily leave the hustle and bustle behind and breathe in harmony with heaven and earth.
