There are many museums worth visiting in Chengdu. In addition to the popular Sichuan Museum, I also recommend the Sichuan Silk Museum in Jinmen.
This is the first museum in Southwest China with a silk theme. The entire museum has five exhibition halls and more than 2,200 cultural relics, telling the story of the origin, craftsmanship, and brocade of silk, as well as China's long history of silk culture.
🌈Here are some highlights:
🔖In the Origin Hall, you can see Leizu, the life of silkworms, etc.
🔖The Craft Hall explains dyes, silkworm weaving pictures, ancient silk varieties, etc.
🔖The Shu Brocade Hall allows you to appreciate the development of Shu brocade, the Silk Road, Dingqiao loom, and the Dahuafang Shu brocade loom.
🔖The World Hall mainly displays Shu embroidery and the world's first Shu brocade "Along the River During the Qingming Festival."
🔖The last Hope Hall: With modern mulberry silk production, cheongsam, and silk shuttle loom as the entry point, it displays ancient and modern silk culture.
⛰️The most dazzling is the 18.8-meter-long and 0.8-meter-high "Along the River During the Qingming Festival," made with traditional Shu brocade weaving techniques. It is also the longest existing Shu brocade painting, known as the "world's first Shu brocade." It is very spectacular to see on site.
