‘Mae Kha Canal and Sustainable Development’ Originally, Mae Kha Canal served as an outer moat surrounding the city. It is a canal flowing from Doi Suthep-Pui National Park and used as a route for travel and drainage. Later, the unsystematic expansion of the city led to the dumping of waste into the canal, causing the water to become polluted. In 2020, Mae Kha Canal was developed by many sectors, including the government, private sector, and NGOs, to plan the restoration of Mae Kha Canal, this historic canal. To push for UNESSO to consider Chiang Mai as a world heritage city
