Thapae Gate, Chiang Mai Landmark

Tha Phae Gate is a tourist attraction in Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province. It is considered another important landmark. If you come to Chiang Mai and don't come here, it's like you haven't been to Chiang Mai.

In the past, Tha Phae Gate was called "Chiang Rueak Gate". The name came from this gate that goes to the pier of the Ping River, which has many rafts. It was a passageway for the rulers at that time. It was first built during the reign of King Mangrai when Chiang Mai was established in 1839.

At present, Tha Phae Gate is a gate that Chiang Mai Municipality and the Fine Arts Department jointly rebuilt in 1985. It is a popular spot for tourists to take pictures, especially taking pictures with the flocks of pigeons in the area. This led to the creation of the "pigeon chasing" profession so that tourists can get beautiful pictures, which greatly increases the excitement of this place.
