Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan, Chiang Mai Province

Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan, or simply "Wat Phra Singh," is a first-class royal temple nestled within the moat of Chiang Mai. Its highlight is the Wihan Lai Kham, built and decorated in Lanna style. The Wihan's interior boasts beautiful murals with "golden patterns on a red background." It also houses the "Phra Buddha Sihing," a sacred Buddha image revered by Chiang Mai.

Furthermore, the temple also houses the "Phra Maha Chedi," or "Phra That Luang," a dazzling golden chedi dedicated to the Year of the Dragon. Inside the chedi is enshrined the relics of the left wrist bone, along with a piece of hair. Ancient Lanna people believed that those born in the Year of the Dragon would receive immense merit if they paid homage to Phra That Luang at Wat Phra Singh.

The "Wihan Luang" enshrines the "Phra Si Sanphet," a large stucco Buddha image, the principal Buddha image in the Wihan.

If you visit Chiang Mai, you must visit and pay homage to the Phra Buddha Sihing at Wat Phra Singh. It is a must-see landmark. 😉
