#VisitChiangMai
🏘Wat U Sai Kham, formerly known as Wat Upakham, was established in 1841 by Upakham, a laywoman who migrated from Chiang Saen due to war. It was later renamed Wat U Sai Kham and later Wat U Sai Kham.
Highlights and significance within the temple include:
🏠 The Ubosot (ordination hall), built in 1884, houses the Phra Buddha Sihing Yok (or Phra Singh Yok), a pure natural jadeite Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture, in the Lanna style of Singha 1. The temple also houses an ancient pulpit.
🏚 The Ho Trai (scripture hall), a four-sided pavilion, half brick, half wood structure with a surrounding gallery and large pillars supporting a wooden roof. The arched pediment features floral motifs and gilded floral vines. The naga panels feature gables, raka leaves, and swan tails, shaped like naga heads. The upper level roof features a complex of square tiers. It has a central gable-like spire.
🛕 The pagoda was built in 1841.
