🇹🇭 Chiang Rai Black House Art Museum
Commonly known as the Black Temple, but it's not actually a temple—it's a museum. While the White Temple represents life, the Black Temple delves into the theme of death. This museum primarily showcases animal skeletons, hides, and other items like horns, antlers, and crocodile skins, creating a very edgy and unique vibe.
Initially, I was worried that the exhibits might scare my child, but she seemed quite at ease 😂. Perhaps it’s because there are seesaws and rocking horses inside. Plus, the space is bright and not eerie at all.
The museum is quite spacious, making it a great place to explore and take photos. The best time to visit is from November to February, as the weather is comfortable and not too hot. However, the temperature difference between morning and evening can be significant. You might need a fleece vest in the morning, but by noon, you could be down to just a tank top 😂—such a contrast!
This place was built by a renowned artist, and his disciples are still creating new works here. Thai art and cultural creativity truly have their own distinctive style. By the way, the bamboo charcoal ice cream 🍦 I had was from the shop inside the museum—so delicious! 😋
