Dalongqiu is located in the valley between Ma'anling and Dongling. A stream called Jinxi originates from Dalongqiu, flows through Xingxia, along Jinzhu Stream, into Qingjiang River, and finally into the sea. Legend has it that Xie Lingyun, while exploring the secluded Jinzhu Stream, was unable to ascend the mountain, missing the opportunity to encounter Dalongqiu. Otherwise, the foreign monk Nuojuna might not have been the founder of Yandang Mountain. Sitting at the Longqiu banquet in the misty rain is a blessing.
The "Two Spirits and One Dragon" of Yandang Mountain, namely Lingfeng, Lingyan and Dalongqiu, are also known as the "Three Wonders of Yandang", and Dalongqiu is considered to be the most outstanding of the three wonders.
Lou Yao of the Southern Song Dynasty wrote in a poem: "To the north of Taihang Mountain is Dongyu Cave, the most amazing of Yandang Mountain. Longqiu is unique in the world, and is praised by all." It can be seen that in the Song Dynasty, Dalongqiu was already famous all over the world.
During May-June or August-September, after the rain around the 15th day of the lunar calendar, you can see the 200-meter-high Dalongqiu, which looks like a giant dragon descending from the sky. It is a magnificent sight, especially after heavy rain.
