Lingpai Stone, Wuxi, Chongqing, a 453-meter-long zigzag road with 18 turns. | After visiting Ningchang Ancient Town, I took a short break and then drove to the most beautiful scenery in Wuxi, a famous mountain road for self-driving tours - "Lingpai Stone". This road is 453 meters long, but it has 18 steep "hairpin turns", all of which are sharp turns, and the first 6 of the 18 turns are super steep slopes. Unlike ordinary continuous hairpin mountain roads, the distance between the hairpin turns of the "Lingpai Stone" road is very short, with only 20 to 30 meters between each turn.
The dangerous terrain and unique configuration of the "Lingpai Stone" road have attracted many self-driving enthusiasts to challenge it. It is said that many experienced drivers cannot make it through the 18 turns in one go. In addition, some sections of this mountain road are paved with gravel, which has limited grip and is more likely to slip on rainy days. Before 2021, the edge of the road was not even equipped with guardrails, and even most experienced drivers who have driven through the 108 turns of Mount Everest and the 72 turns of the Nujiang River are deterred by the "Lingpai Stone" road...
I wonder if anyone who has been to the "Lingpai Stone" has noticed that there is a leisure trail next to the entrance of this mountain road, which seems to have been built in the past two years. Out of curiosity, I walked a few hundred meters along the trail, which was surrounded by cliffs, and the wind was really strong on the edge of the cliff. I was originally tired, but after being baptized by the strong wind, I suddenly felt very awake. It is not known how long this leisure trail is and where it leads, because I had to rush to Chengkou County, so I did not stay here for long.
Drive to "Lingpai Stone" in Wuxi County, which is only 14 kilometers away from "Ningchang Ancient Town". Be sure not to navigate to the wrong place, as there is more than one place called "Lingpai Stone" in Wuxi. If the "Lingpai Stone" you navigate to does not have a dozen winding turns when you zoom in on the map, then it is not the legendary mountain road. Lingpai Stone, Lingpai Stone Road, Zipper Road, my travel,
