Chongqing

Before coming to Chongqing, I was scared off by the crowds at Hongya Cave and Nanshan Yikeshu, but luckily I listened to the locals and saved half a day for E’ling Park, and it turned out to be legendary! This free attraction really nails the meaning of "cost-effectiveness."
The transportation is super convenient—just a 5-minute walk from Exit 1 of E’ling Station on Line 1, no detours needed. The moment you enter the park, you’re amazed. Even though it’s located in the busiest part of Yuzhong Peninsula, inside it’s so quiet you can hear birds chirping. The bluestone paths are covered with moss, and pavilions and towers hide under the shade of trees, making you feel like you’ve wandered into a Suzhou garden.
The must-visit E’xiang Villa should be visited early because it closes at 5 PM! The Jiangnan-style architecture with blue tiles and white walls is perfect for photos—just pick any moon gate or corridor and you’ll get shots worthy of actress Ma Sichun. Wearing Hanfu makes the photos even better. Walking further, you’ll see the S-shaped stone rope bridge, where sunlight filters through the leaves onto the water, creating reflections as beautiful as a painting—no editing needed for casual snaps.
The highlight has to be Kansheng Tower! Climbing seven floors is a bit breath-taking, but the moment you reach the top, it’s totally worth it—the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers look like two ribbons wrapping around the mountain city, and you can clearly see the famous scene of the Liziba monorail passing through a building. You get a 360° unobstructed view of the three districts. Evening is the best time to come; the golden sunset starting at 7:30 PM is super soothing. When it gets dark and the city lights come on, the city below turns into a galaxy. It’s less crowded and quieter than Nanshan Yikeshu, and the night view is absolutely stunning.
To be honest, some historical buildings in the park, like the flying pavilion, have been converted into shops, and the consulate exhibits can only be viewed from afar, which does reduce the immersive feeling a bit. But it’s free! Plus, after touring, you can head downhill directly to E’ling Second Factory, and then walk 15 minutes further down to Liziba. This route covers the core attractions of Yuzhong District efficiently without wasting energy or detours.
Before leaving, I had a bowl of pea and minced pork noodles at the entrance for 12 yuan, which was so filling I could barely stand—perfect ending. I sincerely recommend that when you come to Chongqing, don’t just dive into the crowds. Come to E’ling Park to enjoy the evening breeze and watch the sunset—this is the true leisurely charm of the mountain city~
