Western Sichuan & Daocheng Travel Guide｜See the Most Beautiful Snow Mountains and Starry Skies

You have to visit Western Sichuan at least once, and see the beautiful Daocheng.
This time, we chose to drive along G227 to see the beautiful scenery of Daocheng!
Along the way, we saw grasslands, lakes, snow-capped mountains, colorful forests, and the starry sky and Milky Way under the snow-capped mountains...
This road passes through the beautiful scenery from Daocheng Yading to Litang. I have compiled the following travel guide, covering Shihe Park, Haizi Mountain, Red Grassland, the High Altitude Cosmic Ray Observatory, and Sun and Moon Lake along the way 📷.

🚗 Itinerary:

Day 1: Depart from Chengdu, drive along the Chengdu-Ya'an Expressway, Ya'an-Xichang Expressway, Luding Bridge, National Highway 318, and G227 to Daocheng, and stay overnight in Daocheng.
Day 2: Daocheng—Haizi Mountain World Geopark—High Altitude Cosmic Ray Observatory
Day 3: Red Grassland Scenic Area—Shihe Park Scenic Area—Sun and Moon Lake
Day 4: Return to Chengdu.

⛰️ Attractions along the way:
🔹Haizi Mountain World Geopark: The largest and highest ancient ice cap relics in the world. Haizi Mountain is the kingdom of ancient ice cap relics, with glacial erosion basins scattered like stars, horn peaks towering, and cirques deep. Every boulder is engraved with the magnificent epic of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau rising from the sea.

🔹High Altitude Cosmic Ray Observatory: A perfect blend of technology and nature, and a reflection of cosmic rays and human wisdom. Located in Haizi Mountain, Daocheng County, it has the world's highest, largest, and most sensitive ultra-high-energy gamma-ray observatory.

🔹Shihe Park Scenic Area: One of the largest ancient glacial landscapes on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The northern area is dominated by ice drift stone landscapes, with thousands of ice drift stones of various sizes, which are very spectacular. The southern area has a rich variety of vegetation, with waterfalls, alpine meadows, wetlands, and other landscapes.

🔹Red Grassland Scenic Area: The largest and best-preserved wild red grass growing area in China. Every autumn, the red grassland is as dazzling as a burning flame, attracting countless tourists to come and take photos.

🔹Sun and Moon Lake: I didn't expect to find a mysterious and beautiful lake hidden in the village along the road. The sunlight pouring on the lake surface reflects a dazzling light.

💡 Travel Tips:
· The altitude in Western Sichuan is relatively high, so be careful of altitude sickness.
· Pay attention to road conditions when driving, especially on mountain roads. Safety first.
· Bring enough clothes, as the weather in Western Sichuan can change a lot.

There are so many beautiful sceneries along the G227 road in Daocheng that you need to discover, record, and explore with your own eyes. It must be on your life to-do list.
