A Thousand Years of History: Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine in Fukuoka is dedicated to Tenjin, the deity of learning and culture. Established in 919, it is one of the largest shrines in Japan that worships the god of learning, ranking among the top three.

One of the unique features of this grand shrine is the variety of souvenir shops you can explore on your way there 😸. It is also a place where you can stroll between centuries-old torii gates and camphor trees, soaking in the historic atmosphere.

⚘ Tip:
Visit between late February and early March to enjoy the beautifully blooming plum blossoms. Take a leisurely walk under the plum trees just starting to bloom while savoring 'ume-mochi,' a grilled rice cake filled with sweet red bean paste.
