Dover Diaries: White Cliffs and Sea Breezes

#postandearn
A visit to the White Cliffs of Dover is like stepping into a postcard. Towering above the English Channel, these iconic chalk cliffs glow brilliantly white against the blue sea and sky—a stunning natural landmark steeped in history.

I started my walk from the National Trust Visitor Centre. The coastal path is well-marked and offers sweeping views from the very start. The air is fresh and salty, and the sound of waves crashing below adds to the peaceful atmosphere. The hike is moderate and suitable for most fitness levels. Along the way, I saw wildflowers, birds, and even glimpses of France on the horizon.

The South Foreland Lighthouse makes a great midpoint stop. There’s a little tearoom nearby, perfect for a cream tea with a view. On the return leg, I took my time, sitting on the edge (safely!) to soak in the view—white cliffs, green fields, and deep blue water stretching endlessly.

This isn’t just a scenic walk—it’s a place full of meaning, from wartime stories to natural beauty. If you're in southern England, don’t miss it. Bring comfy shoes, a camera, and let the cliffs speak for themselves.
