The Wild Wolf Valley in Ulan Butong is a realm where the wind and wilderness conspire. The September meadows have faded from the lush green of midsummer to a rusty yellow, like an old felt carpet torn apart by a wolf pack and spread out to the horizon. The ridgeline undulates like a beast’s spine, with ancient claw marks hidden beneath the exposed rock layers. When the wind sweeps by, the grass rustles, and our mood shifts from alertness to excitement, quickly blending into the desolate and vast world around us.
