Fenghuang is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful cities in China and is called the Chinese Venice. The city is also included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Fenghuang impresses with its medieval appearance. The old city is well preserved, it has not been touched by modernization, there are many ethnic languages, customs, and art forms here.
The old city has retained its layout and pristine appearance from the times of the Ming Empire of the XIV century and the Qing Empire of the XVII century.
Along the Tojiang River there are wooden houses on stilts with easily recognizable Chinese-style gabled tiled roofs, open terraces surrounded by carved railings and the obligatory red paper lanterns.
More than 200 ancient residential buildings have been preserved on the streets of the city, as well as the walls of the ancient city, gates with towers, wells, bridges, temples. And all this can be seen practically in its original form.
You are in Fenhuang, an ancient fortress city on the banks of the Tojiang River. If you are lucky enough to step onto its streets for the first time at dusk or after sunset, you will inevitably find yourself in a fairy tale.
You are in another dimension. Bright colors, lights and a rainbow of feelings will soon overwhelm your soul with a feeling of true happiness. This is about how children look at a carousel with horses and a display case with lollipops. The coveted taste of carefree happiness.
The evening Fenghuang, flashing with lights and shimmering with a reflection of itself in the waters of the Tojiang River, is fascinating and promising. It seduces with smells, the hubbub of an excited crowd, the murmur of water and melodious music emerging from nowhere.
The ancient city of Fenghuang is located in the south-west of Hunan Province, among picturesque mountains, on the banks of the Tojiang River. This town, named after the mythical phoenix bird, really resembles the scenery of an ancient Chinese fairy tale.
