Foshan | The First Step to Understanding Lingnan Culture | Ancestral Temple Museum

It is said that to understand Lingnan culture, you must not miss the Ancestral Temple Museum. It brings together Foshan's unique intangible cultural heritage. After visiting it myself, I think it is worth recommending to everyone. You can book tickets online or buy them on-site. The price is 20 RMB per adult, and half price for students.

The museum itself is not large, but the tour route is quite interesting. It starts with the unique architectural styles of Lingnan, such as pottery and grey sculptures. Turning a corner, you will find the famous Wong Fei-hung Memorial Hall. Indeed, when talking about Foshan, martial arts cannot be ignored. The Ancestral Temple itself is a building of great historical value, with features like the archway, Jinxiang Pool, and dragon-carved stone pillars.

The museum also arranges intangible cultural heritage performances at different times, such as lion dances, Cantonese opera, and Wing Chun. On the day I visited, I happened to catch a lion dance performance, and the crowd was overwhelming.
