Located at the easternmost point of Heixiazi Island in Fuyuan City, Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province, the Dongji Pagoda marks the easternmost point of China's land territory and holds significant geographical and cultural importance. Designed in an octagonal shape with a Han and Tang dynasty architectural style, the nine-story pagoda stands 81 meters tall. Its base, a two-tiered square measuring 40 meters by 40 meters, exudes grandeur. The pagoda features a circular plaza adorned with a Taiji pattern. With a diameter of 171 meters, the plaza symbolizes the 171 square kilometers of returned territory of Heixiazi Island. Tortoise and Kylin figures are placed at the two poles of the plaza, representing the harmony of water and fire, and the balance of yin and yang. Sixty carved green stone pillars featuring coiled dragons surround the plaza, 56 representing China's 56 ethnic groups, and four exquisitely carved dragon pillars stand at the four corners of the pagoda base, imbued with profound meaning. The bronze decorations of the Dongji Pagoda, crafted by Chinese arts and crafts master Zhu Bingren, are made entirely of copper, including the bronze tiles. They showcase the imagery and meaning of "Dragon Playing with the Eastern Pearl," seamlessly blending traditional cultural heritage with modern forms to create a timeless architectural masterpiece. The Dongji Pagoda is not only a major tourist attraction but also an important symbol of China's territorial integrity and sovereignty. Its unique geographical location and rich cultural significance attract countless visitors, making it a shining pearl in Northeast China. The completion of the Dongji Pagoda not only demonstrates China's status as a major power but also leaves a valuable cultural legacy and a permanent historical testament for future generations.
