🛕✨ Wat Dhamikaram in Penang, Malaysia is the only Burmese Theravada Buddhist temple outside Myanmar. Built by the Burmese in the late 18th century, it stands out with its red and gold colors and white stone elephant statues.
💁♀️ Inside the temple, there are many Buddha statues, murals, and the Arahant Upugatta pagoda, which people often bring offerings to. The temple is also a venue for various festivals such as Songkran, Moon Festival, Chinese New Year, Buddhist Lent, and Visakha Bucha Day. Behind the temple is a pond that currently raises carps and sea turtles.
