There’s nothing like a Penang morning stroll, and Chowrasta Market gave me just that — an authentic street-side dive into local life. I didn’t even go inside the market itself — just exploring the streets outside was already full of life.
From the moment I arrived, the place was alive with energy. Hawkers were busy setting up their stalls, locals queued for their regular breakfast bites, and the scent of kopi, nasi lemak, and char koay teow floated in the air.
What I loved most was the street-side mix of old and new — heritage shophouses lined with colourful umbrellas, stacks of preserved fruits and snacks, and uncles joking with their regular customers. It’s Penang in its rawest and most charming form.
Every corner felt photogenic, every smile felt genuine. It’s the kind of place where you experience the soul of a city just by walking around.
