🍜 IPPUDO Gurney Plaza – Flavorful Ramen Before the Flight

We decided to have our final meal in Penang at IPPUDO in Gurney Plaza before heading to the airport—and it turned out to be a satisfying choice. It was understandably packed on a Sunday afternoon, but we managed to get seated quickly by opting for the high chairs at the bar counter.
Despite the crowd, the service was polite and efficient. There was a slight wait for the food, but nothing unreasonable. The ramen broth was rich and deeply savory—just the kind of comforting warmth we were looking for before a flight. The noodles had a nice firm bite, and the chashu was tender and full of flavor, melting in the mouth.
We also tried the gyoza, but it didn’t particularly stand out. However, their izakaya-style skewers more than made up for it—smoky, juicy, and well-seasoned, they added a nice variety to the meal.
The ambiance carried a trendy, modern izakaya vibe which made the dining experience feel more than just your usual ramen pit stop. Prices were reasonable for a mall setting, and the quality lived up to the IPPUDO brand reputation.
