Discovered another treasure spot at Basongcuo—Bailang Valley! Even more off the beaten path than Xincuo, but the scenery is just as stunning. This journey feels like stepping into the embrace of snowy mountains and forests, with meadows, streams, waterfalls, lakes, and layers of snow-capped peaks unfolding at every step. Every step offers a different visual feast—truly healing~
🚗 Self-Driving Tips:
· Basongcuo Scenic Area Ticket: 120 RMB/person
· Bailang Valley Sanitation Fee: 10 RMB/person (cash recommended, as there is almost no signal inside)
· Only guests staying at inns or hotels inside the scenic area can drive into Basongcuo. Remember to pay a 60 RMB accommodation deposit at the ticket office, which can be deducted from your room fee once inside. No refund if you don’t stay.
· Bailang Valley roads are all dirt paths, with water crossings and potholes like bomb craters. It’s recommended to drive a high-clearance, well-suspended vehicle.
📍 How to Get to Bailang Valley?
Bailang Valley and Xincuo are both deep inside Basongcuo. Shortly after heading toward Xincuo, watch for the sign and turn left to Bailang Valley. You will pass through three iron gates:
① First gate: Pay 10 RMB sanitation fee (cash preferred)
② Second gate: An elderly man will help open the gate
③ Third gate: Just drive straight through
⚠️ After the last gate, you’ll encounter a waterlogged ditch. If it’s raining, the water might be quite deep. If unsure, it’s best to get out and check before carefully driving through. An off-road vehicle is recommended for stability!
🌉 After driving a bit, you’ll come across a large wooden bridge just wide enough for a car. This spot is perfect for stopping to rest and take photos—wooden bridge, meadows, streams, and snowy mountains all in one frame, as beautiful as a painting (see photo 1)!
🅿️ After resting, continue driving until the road ends, then park. Beyond this point is about a 2-kilometer hiking trail.
🚶 Hiking Experience:
· The entire trail is a natural grass mat path with soft soil, very comfortable to walk on
· The ground is covered with small mushrooms and dense vegetation, truly a natural oxygen bar
· After climbing a rocky hill, you’ll see the lake beneath the snowy mountains—Pugang Luocuo
· It takes about 30-45 minutes to reach the lake. High-altitude hiking is physically demanding, so remember to bring electrolyte water, glucose, Snickers, or other energy supplements
Sitting by the lake daydreaming, watching the reflection of the snowy mountains and the little fish swimming in the water, you’ll instantly feel that all the effort was worth it~ This kind of hidden gem is perfect for those who love peace and exploration!
