Shamian Island is located in Liwan District. It is mainly European-style buildings. It feels like traveling in Europe here. Shamian is a famous tourist scenic spot in Guangzhou. There are many green areas on the island, with more than 150 ancient trees. The island covers an area of only 0.3 square kilometers and retains the European style of the British and French concessions in the 19th century.

There are 54 cultural relics on Shamian Island that are listed as national key cultural relics protection sites. The main architectural styles can be divided into three periods: the early British and French colonial style, the middle period antique eclectic style and the late modernist style.
