Geumgwanchong Tomb, a magnificent historic site in Gyeongju, a domestic travel destination

#DomesticTravel

A must-visit while traveling domestically is the ⭐️Geumgwanchong ⭐️, a Silla stone-mound wooden chamber tomb discovered by chance in Noseo-dong, Gyeongju in 1921. It attracted significant attention as the first gold crown unearthed in Korea. Excavations in 2013 and 2015 uncovered a scabbard inscribed with the words "Isajiwang (尒斯智王)" (Isaji King), confirming the tomb's owner. In addition to the gold crown, a staggering 30,000 artifacts were unearthed, including various gold and silver ornaments, weapons, and horse harness. The total gold weighed 7.5 kg. A bronze jar relic also revealed a connection with Goguryeo, and the excavated gold crown and belt ornament have been designated National Treasures. Currently, "Geumgwanchong" and the "Silla Tomb Information Center," both of which are part of the Cheonmachong Tomb, are open for viewing. This historically significant site is now home to a preservation exhibition space, similar to the Cheonmachong Tomb, where visitors can view the interior.
