A Relaxing Water Villa Stay at Hakuraa Huraa

A wonderful week was spent at Hakuraa Huraa in one of their water villas. This marked our 6th visit to the Maldives, and it lived up to our expectations compared to previous islands we've been to. The resort exudes a laid-back vibe with amiable staff, and we received a warm welcome following our seaplane transfer—preferred over the lengthy speedboat option, which seemed to be less popular among guests. The water villa was first-rate, recently renovated, elegantly decorated, and very spacious. We appreciated the dual bathroom with a separate shower and toilet, the lighting, and especially the large glass panel in the bedroom floor where we observed sharks, bluefins, and parrotfish daily. The villa came with all essentials like a mini fridge, tea/coffee, TV, a comfy sofa, and chairs. The deck was perfect for relaxing during the day or night with two sunbed chairs and a large comfortable corner seat ideal for two people. Snorkeling or swimming was easy at high tide straight from the steps into the sea. Special thanks to our villa cleaner, Habeeb, for keeping everything spotless daily. The buffet restaurant offered a wide variety of dishes for every meal, many prepared live. The salad room was delightful with fresh options, and the pasta station became a favorite. While other islands had themed food nights, the diversity here was ample. Our waiter Fulhu, who served us throughout our meals in the main restaurant, was always friendly, remembering our favorite drinks—a truly nice guy. Our package included a romantic meal at the Crab restaurant, where we enjoyed a high-quality four-course meal, one with seafood and one without. Rumesh was an exceptionally friendly host there. The island is encircled by white sand beaches and is beautifully landscaped, making it a joy to walk around. There's no house reef near the beach or water villas here, but guests can enjoy a complimentary boat ride to excellent coral reefs just a short sail from the reception each morning and afternoon. We did this daily, impressed by the coral and tropical fish—the sightings of turtles, reef sharks, and eagle rays were astounding. We also opted for the snorkel with nurse sharks trip with the Dive Centre team, which was amazing. We relished excellent Balinese massages at the Mandara spa from the lovely Tera and Nia. Post-dinner, the bar became the hub of relaxation with good music from a duo playing four times during the week and they also hosted a fun Karaoke night.
