😆The West Lake is huge and you can’t explore it all in one day, so just pick the places you want to go.
On the evening of the first day, we arrived at the upper right corner of Gaode Map, the West Lake area next to the Wulin Night Market (since we stayed at Wulin Station, it was a 15-minute walk away). After visiting the night market, we went to take a look at the West Lake next to it.
🌙There are many tourists at night, and there are snack bars, restaurants and souvenir shops in the park area. The feeling is different in the evening and at night. If you go in the direction of the Broken Bridge, you may just walk along the road next to it. One evening, I passed by by car. The Broken Bridge was full of lights at night and it was quite beautiful. In the end, I didn't go there for a walk during the day. It is a famous bridge.
During the day, walk from Longxiang Bridge Station to West Lake. There are small stalls along the way where you can wear ancient costumes and take photos. There are white pigeons and squirrels to watch. Walk to the nearby 🛶 pier and pay 70 yuan to "Three Pools Mirroring the Moon". After sightseeing on the island, you can take a boat to your return destination or to several other West Lake attractions, but the boat ticket is only for "2 trips", so you have to find transportation back or to the next location by yourself. I chose "Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor", but only flashed a small part because I had to wait for a long time for the boat to go to "Three Pools Mirroring the Moon".
It's already dusk and Leifeng Pagoda closes at around 8 o'clock. At "Huagang Watching Fish", we only took a quick walk around a small part near the disembarkation area and then walked to "Leifeng Pagoda". The 20-minute journey on the map is actually not that long. There are small stalls along the way offering food, souvenirs and beautiful scenery.
When I arrived at Leifeng Pagoda, I paid cash at the manual window for a ticket worth several dozen yuan and went in. About 1 to 2 hours is not enough. It was OK, but I only visited Leifeng Pagoda and didn't get to visit the other 1 or 2 temples nearby. We didn't arrive at West Lake until 2 or 3 in the afternoon, hahaha. If you go earlier, you can walk around more, or find a rowing boat or something, but it depends on the strength of your legs. I'm the type who can walk quite well.
There is an elevator in Leifeng Pagoda that goes directly to the 4th floor. You can go out and take the stairs to the top floor. When the time is almost up, walk down slowly one floor at a time, making a circle on each floor. There were also quite a few people on Friday.
When I left, I looked at the map and saw "Wushan Square Station", and nearby were "Hefang Street" and "Southern Song Imperial Street". There is a 🚍 bus opposite the exit of Leifeng Pagoda. It costs 2 yuan and is not far, just a few stops. That's how I chose to leave.
It is also convenient to go back to the hostel, because there is a large tourist night market on "Hefang Street", and it is close to the 🚈 subway station and there are many 🛵cars🚕 soliciting passengers.
📍So "West Lake" is enough for you to spend a whole day. "Three Pools Mirroring the Moon" plus "Leifeng Pagoda" and "Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor" can take up a whole day. You can choose another day to stroll around other parts of West Lake.
