I heard that the Lantern Festival at Hangzhou Xixi Wetland Park is very lively, but I couldn't join in the fun because it was a weekday. When the weekend came, I thought there might still be some Lantern Festival vibes, so I went with my parents and family. I chose the free route.
Take Metro Line 3 to Dongyue Station, Exit A → Visit the China Wetland Museum → Go to Gaozhuang (you can take a small train, which charges a fee) → Hezhu Street → Jiangcun Slow Life Block → Take Metro Line 19 back.
1. The China Xixi Wetland Museum is a national museum themed on wetlands. It is closed on Mondays and open to the public for free. The museum systematically displays wetland knowledge and enhances visitors' awareness of wetland protection through the restoration of typical wetland scenes, multimedia interaction, and graphic displays. It features dynamic water curtains, 360-degree interactive digital exhibitions, and 180-degree giant screens, showing the film "The Realm of Life" with stunning visual effects.
2. Gaozhuang is the villa of Gao Shiqi, a favorite minister of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. It has pavilions, rockeries, pools, and winding paths, which are typical of classical Jiangnan gardens.
3. Hezhu Street has a market with a wide variety of local delicacies and snacks. I recommend Mr. Yang's Gorgon Cake, which is made and sold on the spot and is very delicious. During the Spring Festival, various lanterns are hung on the street, and pink lanterns like Kongming lanterns are placed in the lake, which is very eye-catching. There are also rowing boats in Hezhu Village, where you can take a boat to enjoy the scenery.
4. Jiangcun Slow Life Block is quite artistic and petty bourgeois. There are many beautiful specialty shops and coffee shops, which are suitable for taking photos and checking in. China Wetland Museum Slow Life Block Gaozhuang Jiangcun Market
