Stepping into Zhejiang Xizi Hotel·Wangzhuang feels like entering a flowing ink painting. Nestled by the West Lake, this renowned garden opened a chapter of unforgettable Jiangnan sojourn for me with its unique charm.
Wandering along the winding paths, shaded by lush trees and adorned with vibrant flowers, the occasional chirping of birds adds to the tranquility. Glancing around, pavilions, terraces, and towers are harmoniously arranged, with rockeries and ponds complementing each other, showcasing the elegance and intricacy of Eastern gardens. Strolling here feels like stepping into a utopia, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.
My room was warm and cozy, with a window framing the breathtaking view of West Lake. In the morning, sunlight danced on the lake’s surface, shimmering like stars, while the distant Leifeng Pagoda loomed faintly through the mist, as if in a fairyland. At dusk, the setting sun painted the sky in brilliant hues, casting golden ripples across the lake—a sight so mesmerizing it stole my breath. Every moment here offered a new perspective of West Lake’s beauty, leaving me utterly enchanted.
The hotel’s dining experience was equally impressive. At the Peony Chinese Restaurant, chefs crafted Hangzhou cuisine with exquisite flavors and artistry. The West Lake vinegar fish was tender and perfectly balanced in sweetness and tang; the Longjing tea-infused shrimp was fragrant and silky, with pristine white shrimp and emerald-green tea leaves, leaving a lingering aftertaste. The Dongpo pork, glistening red and melt-in-the-mouth, was rich yet not greasy. Each dish was a masterpiece, delighting both the palate and the soul.
In my leisure time, I loved strolling through the hotel’s courtyards. Pausing at Emperor Qianlong’s Fishing Terrace, I imagined the imperial pastime; at the Temple of the Old Man Under the Moon, I soaked in the romantic legends. Or I’d sit by the lakeside tea bar, sipping fragrant tea while quietly admiring the lake’s beauty, letting time drift by.
The wellness and recreational facilities were equally outstanding. The indoor heated pool, crystal clear, offered a refreshing escape for body and mind. The fully equipped gym met all my workout needs. Additionally, a boat ride provided an intimate encounter with West Lake’s charm, showcasing its landscapes from a fresh angle.
Every moment at Zhejiang Xizi Hotel·Wangzhuang was filled with wonder and emotion. Beyond its stunning surroundings, cozy accommodations, and delectable cuisine, it exuded a unique cultural ambiance that effortlessly captivated the heart. Like an elegant Jiangnan lady, it whispered tales of West Lake, waiting for every traveler to listen and experience. If you yearn for a romantic rendezvous with West Lake, Wangzhuang is an unmissable choice—promising a stay you’ll cherish for a lifetime.
