🌟Historical Background:
Longmen Ancient Town, located in Fuyang District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, is the hometown of Sun Quan, Emperor of the Eastern Wu during the Three Kingdoms period. It has well-preserved grand ancient architectural complexes from the Ming and Qing dynasties, including ancestral halls, main halls, residential houses, ancient pagodas, stone bridges, and memorial archways.
📍Detailed Address:
Drive and navigate to Longmen Ancient Town Parking Lot, about 3.5 hours from Shanghai.
💰Ticket Price:
The ancient town is free to enter, but some venues charge separately, around 5 to 10 yuan, which is not expensive.
❤Recommended Reasons:
The ancient town has only one main street with a light commercial atmosphere, and even restaurants are few. Inside the main street is a residential area with Hui-style architecture. Perhaps the younger generation has left for work, so the village is sparsely populated. Wandering through the ancient alleys feels like time has stood still. It's also very photogenic.
The ancient town has many narrow alleys, making it feel like a maze when walking through them. It takes about 2 hours to explore the entire town. I didn’t visit the paid venues.
Special praise goes to the cleanliness of this ancient town. Generally, the rivers in ancient towns are murky and smelly in summer, but the water here is incredibly clean and crystal clear. I even saw two children bathing in it.
👍Most Recommended:
Be sure to try the ancient town’s rice wine, especially the original flavor. It has a natural fruity aroma, is ice-cold, sweet, and very refreshing. Before leaving, I bought a 5-jin (2.5 kg) barrel for 20 yuan, which should be consumed within a month. I recommend Sun Family Rice Wine—their rice wine is freshly made and sells quickly. On the day I visited, their fermented glutinous rice was sold out, so I went back the next day to buy some, freshly made and still warm. For this rice wine alone, I’d love to visit again.
