🗿 Feilai Peak Scenic Area – A Hidden Gem of Ancient Buddhist Art in Hangzhou

While many visitors to Feilai Peak only explore Lingyin Temple and Yongfu Temple, they often miss the true treasure—the over 340 ancient Buddhist rock carvings scattered along the hillside behind Lingyin. These stone statues, some dating back to 951 AD, are rare relics of ancient Buddhist art in southern China and rival the famous Dazu Rock Carvings in Chongqing.

✨ The cliffside carvings include graceful depictions of Avalokitesvara and Maitreya Buddha, including the largest and earliest laughing Buddha (Big Belly Maitreya) in China. With his bare belly and infectious smile, he embodies the phrase:
“Laugh at everything under the heavens; be the one who brings smiles to all.”

🧘♂️ As you stroll through Feilai Peak, you’ll be surrounded by strange stones, peaceful grottos, towering trees, and poetic silence. The natural beauty blends perfectly with a deep spiritual atmosphere—ideal for reflection and quiet appreciation.

🎟️ Entrance Fee: ¥45 (Note: does not include Lingyin Temple ticket)

📍 Location: Hangzhou, near Lingyin Temple
📸 Don’t forget your camera—the ancient carvings are not only sacred, but incredibly photogenic!
