Zhejiang Museum (Hangzhou)

#chinatravel

The Zhejiang Museum, located near the scenic West Lake, is a cultural treasure trove. While not as grand as some others, it’s rich in regional history, especially that of the Jiangnan area. I was fascinated by the collections of Song Dynasty ceramics, traditional clothing, and ancient scroll paintings. One highlight for me was the exhibit on local silk production—it’s a beautiful and delicate part of Hangzhou’s identity. The museum also often has rotating art exhibitions from around China. It’s quiet, relaxing, and a perfect way to learn more before or after a boat ride on West Lake. And it’s free!
