Cakes, Culture, and a View — A Sweet Retreat at Eastern & Oriental

Eastern and Oriental Tea House and Coffee Parlour is more than just a café — it’s an experience wrapped in nostalgia, sweetness, and hospitality. Located inside a charming colonial-style house facing the lake, the setting alone is enough to draw you in. But the real magic begins once you step inside.

Upon entering, I was warmly greeted and given a full tour of the day’s cake offerings — and wow, what a selection! As a self-proclaimed cake lover, I couldn’t resist picking a few slices to try. After ordering, I was invited to head upstairs, where I naturally made my way to the top floor to enjoy the gorgeous lake view from above.

For brunch, I went with the eggs Benedict and Vietnamese egg coffee. The eggs Benedict were decent, but the egg coffee? Absolutely delicious — rich, velvety, and perfectly balanced. The cakes lived up to the hype too, with huge, moist slices that were full of flavor. I couldn’t even finish them all!

What made the visit truly memorable, though, was the warm hospitality. A server named Nam Anh took the time to chat with us and shared fascinating insights about Vietnamese culture. That personal connection turned a simple café stop into a cultural exchange and a highlight of the day.

We ended up spending over two hours there, soaking in the view, sipping more drinks, and enjoying the vibe. Whether you’re a tourist looking for a peaceful break, or a local in search of great desserts and meaningful conversations, this place is a must-visit.
