Tadao Ando's new work in Heyuan, just in time for the Light Art Festival!

In Chunmuyuan Town, Heyuan, Guangdong, you'll find his "Poetry Hall"—a masterpiece by the 82-year-old master, full of clever details, so don’t just glance through it!

Here's how to properly explore the "Poetry Hall":
First, touch the exposed concrete wall; its texture is highly distinctive. When sunlight streams through the geometric openings, flowing light and shadow spread across the floor, making every photo look like it has a premium filter. Inside, there’s a Tagore pipe organ that looks exactly like the hall’s triangular structure. The premiere is on October 13th, and the moment the sound resonates with the building, the live experience is incredible. Be sure to check the performance schedule in advance.

Don’t miss the green apple installation nearby!
Right on the plaza outside the hall, it’s Tadao Ando’s gift to the town, symbolizing "eternal youth." Stand diagonally in front of the apple to capture it with the hall’s pointed roof in the frame—perfect for your social media posts.

The Light Art Festival from October 12 to 18 is super lively:
The whole town combines the tranquility of architecture with the vibrancy of performances. With over 30 shows, you don’t have to wait for anything special—you’ll encounter them just by strolling around! Yoannie's "Stroll" is a world premiere, with dancers improvising on the pathways; the Water Utopia troupe’s China debut is best watched by the lake, with shimmering waves as a stunning backdrop; the evening water screen show "The Fantastic Journey of Light" is a must-see, with lights and water screens changing to music—perfect for eye-catching videos.

For families with kids, the Dinosaur Island Water Park is a top pick. Kids go wild for the dinosaur-shaped slides and can play in the water all afternoon without wanting to leave. Nearby, the Dragon Bone Playground hides surprises—you can catch loaches for free, and adults can relax watching kids chase little fish, which is both stress-relieving and healing.

If you have time, definitely try the hot air balloon! Choose a clear evening to ascend slowly and overlook the entire valley. The sunset casts a golden glow on the green fields, and kids leaning against the window will say, "It’s like being in a fairy tale." Every snapshot turns into a perfect family photo!
