Hiroshima Day Trip: Explore Hiroshima in One Day!

Recommended for those planning a day trip to Hiroshima!
Here’s the schedule I followed for my one-day Hiroshima adventure!

🚄 Around 9 AM: Arrive at Hiroshima Station!

🚃 Take the JR train to Miyajimaguchi!

⛴️ Board the ferry to Miyajima!

⛩️ Spend 2–3 hours enjoying Miyajima!
First, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Itsukushima Shrine.
Then, stroll through the shopping street and savor momiji manju (maple leaf-shaped sweets)!
The ice cream sandwich and fried momiji manju are absolutely delicious!

Here’s a recommendation: try the momiji manju hand-baking experience!
Reservations are required!
💰 Price per person: 880 yen
⚠️ Starting July 1, the price will increase to 1,000 yen.
📍 Location: Yamadaya Miyajima Main Store

The experience is not only fun, but the freshly made momiji manju you bake yourself is amazing!
You’ll also receive a souvenir of Kirioka sweets, which I personally preferred over momiji manju. I ended up buying a lot of Kirioka sweets from the souvenir shop below the experience venue!

⛴️ Take the ferry back to the mainland.

🚃 Take the JR train from Miyajimaguchi to Otake Station (about 15 minutes).

🚌 Take the free shuttle bus to Shimose Art Museum.
⚠️ The shuttle bus operates only on weekends and holidays! If visiting on weekdays, you can use the local bus instead.

🧑🎨 Shimose Art Museum
Selected as one of the most beautiful museums in the world.
The architecture is truly stunning—simply beautiful!
If you’re visiting Hiroshima, this is a must-see spot!

🚌 Take the free shuttle bus back to Otake Station.

🚃 Take the JR train from Otake Station to Hiroshima Station.

🚈 Take the streetcar from Hiroshima Station to the Atomic Bomb Dome.

🍽️ Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki at Micchan
Located on the first floor of Orizuru Tower next to the Atomic Bomb Dome.
It’s a popular restaurant, so make sure to get a numbered ticket in advance! You can receive notifications via LINE about your waiting time.
The udon noodles are delicious and highly recommended!

🏢 Visit the Atomic Bomb Dome
Make sure to visit for peace education and reflection.

🍨 End your day with dessert at a gelato shop near the Atomic Bomb Dome.
The portions are surprisingly large!

🚈 Take the streetcar back to Hiroshima Station.

Before boarding the Shinkansen, buy plenty of souvenirs!
Hiroshima Station has been newly renovated and is very clean and easy to navigate!

🚄 Board the Shinkansen and head home.
